This accomplished journalist, author, and minister has had a prolific career in writing for notable publications such as the Cleveland Press, Ebony magazine, Chicago Today, and the Chicago Tribune, where she was one of the first African American women reporters and served as the Washington correspondent and a columnist and editorial board member with USA Today. The ordained minister has authored several books, hosted a radio talk show, Barbara’s Beat, and a television program, WHUT’s Evening Exchange, and founded Harriet’s Children, an organization assisting women who abused alcohol and drugs.
